How to Care for Contact Lenses
Many people prefer contact lenses as an alternative to eye glasses. The main reason is because it is more convenient to use and does not affect whether a person engages in competitive sports or just plain knitting. Vision is also greatly improved with a contact lens’ comfortable fit. Caring for contact lenses, however, is more meticulous than that of the eye glasses.
The most basic thing to do when handling contact lenses is keeping the hands clean and dry. Dirt from hands or soap residuals transferred to the contact lens will cause discomfort to the eyes. Handling of the contacts should always be with done with great care since this may be durable but too much force applied on it can eventually break it apart. At night, contact lens should be soaked in a solution which will clean it while you sleep. There are many solutions offered in the market. Sometimes, the eyes may experience burning sensations after using contacts soaked in a solution. In this case, you should try using other solutions that suits you. When contacts lens are worn, it is also a must to keep it moist. It sometimes dries out the eyes and creates minor pain or irritation.
If you are a first time user of contact lens, it is best to ask your ophthalmologist on other things you need to know based on first hand initial experience or other people’s experiences they have shared with you.
